Fluorescence Lifetimes down to 100 ps, at a fraction of the cost and size of a bench-top fluorometer
Though it is small and inexpensive the EasyLife™ X is a serious performer
|
 |
| ANS binding to bovine serum albumin was monitored with the EasyLife™ X equipped with a 370 nm LED. The ratio of free ANS to BSA bound ANS (9:1) can be easily determined from the double exponential fit to the fluorescence decay. |
Optical Building Blocks corporation (OBB) is pleased to announce the introduction of the all new EasyLife™ X! The EasyLife™ X is OBB's patented low cost bench top fluorescence lifetime system, and it replaces the previous model EasyLife™ V. The EasyLife™ X offers two new enhanced capabilities; Automated Protein Melts, and an Enhanced Lifetime Kinetics Acquisition Protocol.
Automated Peltier Cuvette Holder
One of the new capabilities introduced with the EasyLife™ X is the ability to now add a computer controlled Peltier cuvette holder in the sample compartment. This optional accessory allows for automated melts in the temperature range from -20 to 105 degrees Celsius and is ideal for temperature dependent protein research. |
Enhanced Lifetime Kinetics
The EasyLife™ X is the only commercial system in the world that can measure fluorescence lifetime kinetics. This unique protocol can dynamically acquire the fluorescence lifetime as a function of time. Since the lifetime is an intrinsic measurement, this new capability is far superior to steady state fluorescence kinetics techniques, since it is independent of non intrinsic variables such as concentration, scatter and photo-bleaching. |
Now you can finally afford a fluorescence lifetime system for your lab, and the EasyLife™ X is so simple to operate that literally anyone in your lab can actually use it!
The EasyLife™ X is the realization of a 40 year dream to make a small, simple, affordable fluorescence lifetime system that literally anyone can use. Using our patented fluorescence lifetime detection technique and simple interchangeable pulsed LED's and laser diodes, the EasyLife™ X finally allows any researcher to be able to afford and actually conduct fluorescence lifetime experiments in their own lab.
Before the introduction of the EasyLife™ X your only choice to measure fluorescence lifetimes was to buy a large expensive modular research instrument. Some of these systems provide outstanding performance, and they can be a good choice for the investigator who has demanding experimental requirements, the money to buy such a system and they sophisticated experience to be able to use and maintain it. However the vast majority of people doing fluorescence research are working with samples that have concentrations, wavelengths and lifetime ranges that do not require these large expensive systems. The EasyLife™ was designed to easily handle this experiments.
Will the EasyLife™ X do the job for you or do you really need to buy a large expensive research fluorescence lifetime system?
Simply answer the following questions.
 |
Do you work at concentrations around the equivalent of 400 pM fluorescein or higher? yes |
 |
Are your lifetimes in the range from 100 picoseconds to 3 microseconds? yes |
 |
Do your samples excite and emit fluorescence from 265 to 900 nm? yes |
 |
Do you need FRET calculators? yes |
 |
Do you need comprehensive decay analysis? yes |
 |
Do you have limited bench space? yes |
 |
Would you like to buy an instrument that anyone in your lab can use? yes |
 |
Would you like to pay less than the cost of a bench-top fluorometer for all of these capabilities? yes |
If you answered yes to all of these, then the EasyLife™ X is the fluorescence lifetime system for you.
Are you thinking about adding fluorescence lifetime components to your existing fluorometer?
Don't waste your money on an expensive addition to your aging fluorometer. The EasyLife™ X offers all of the benefits listed above in a new, stand alone, 1 cubic foot instrument, and it will cost you less money. Plus you will have the benefit of having both your steady state fluorometer and your time resolved EasyLife system being used at the same time, dramatically increasing your labs productivity.
Are you skeptical that a 1 cubic foot instrument that costs so little can do so much?
We don't blame you. It is understandable that anyone who has done fluorescence lifetime research on anything other than an EasyLife™ X could be skeptical. That is why we have compiled an extensive library of data collected on the EasyLife™. Please review it for samples similar to your own to see how the system could work for you. And if you don't believe us, you can also search and review literature citations using the EasyLife™.
Still not sure the EasyLife™ X will work for your experiments?
| After learning this much about the EasyLife™ X many people stop reading and just ordered their own system. But if you are still not 100% sure that the system will work for you and your samples, we understand. That is why OBB Corporation is willing to provide all North American customers with a fourteen day evaluation in your lab with your own complete EasyLife™ X , working on your own samples. Given the very low price of the system, we simply cannot afford to demonstrate the system for you. But if you place an order with us, you have a fourteen day period from when it is shipped during which time you can determine for yourself if the EasyLife™ X is for you. The system is so simple to use, you will be measuring fluorescence lifetimes minutes after you open the box. Within the 14 day evaluation period if you are not happy with the system for any reason, or no reason at all, you can return it to us at no charge. It's that simple. This offer may not be available in all countries. |
