The EasyLife™ L can be used for a wide variety of luminescence applications.
DNA-Lanthanide assays for multi-drug resistance of TB strains etc
The time resolved technique is vastly superior to a steady state luminescence assay as it is insensitive to artifacts that can affect intensity, such as light scattering, concentration fluctuations and precipitation. Additionally the lifetime technique directly measures the fraction of bound versus unbound probe, whereas a steady state assay has no way to do this.
 |
DNA-lanthanide assays are used in a number of diagnostic tests, for example DNA-Tb3+ in testing for antibiotic resistance of tuberculosis strains. Terbium luminescence is enhanced upon binding to DNA, which results in 3 fold increase of Tb3+ lifetime. |
DNA-Lanthanide Binding Kinetics
The Lifetime Kinetics acquisition protocol is unique to the EasyLife™ L and allows for the study of binding kinetics based on the lifetime of the probe. Lifetime Kinetics is totally independent of intensity fluctuations caused by artifacts such as light scattering, concentration fluctuations and precipitation.

The binding kinetics of Tb3+ to DNA can be followed free of intensity artifacts by using the unique Lifetime Kinetics acquisition mode. Here the EasyLifeT L performs continuous rapid measurements of the average terbium lifetime in real time. |
